POSITION PURPOSE :

Assist in the delivery of both direct and indirect nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. To give the nursing student an opportunity to experience a realistic working environment, gain experience in an employment situation, and to provide insight into the practice of professional nursing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Under the guidance and immediate supervision of an assigned registered nurse:

  • Develop and demonstrate an ability to apply critical thinking skills to clinical practice when assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals.

  • Develop ability to perform physical assessments, develop and implement plans of care, identify patient outcomes, and evaluate patient responses.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work with others in a positive and effective manner.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide nursing care that aligns with the plan of care within scope of nursing practice, certification, and competency assessment. These duties may include:

  • Assist the patient with activities of daily living including but not limited to: hygiene, mobility, nutrition and elimination needs.

  • Obtain and document patient data and information.

  • Assist with or performs nursing procedures and tasks as directed by the RN

  • LPN only, administer medications within his/her scope of practice.

  • Documentation of care, treatment provided under his/her scope of practice

  • Help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed first year of nursing program at an accredited school of nursing

  • Currently enrolled in an approved associate degree or bachelor’s degree Nursing Program

  • Must have current BLS or obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment at CGH.

  • Under the immediate supervision of the registered nurse preceptor; demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served, demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. 

  • Fulfill requirements of PRN (Casual Pool Employment) Policy

Compensation Range

$16.50 - $24.75
