Staff Accountant

OPAL Fuels is a leader in the capture and conversion of biogas into renewable energy. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to manage general accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations and financial reporting, while supporting audit requests and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations for cash and other general accounts
  • Support audit requests as directed
  • Oversees daily cash reporting process, including preparation of journal entries for company’s cash accounts, including recording cash receipts
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording, and reporting of all accounts and including intercompany balances
  • Book journal entries as needed and directed
  • Perform daily accounting and financial reporting operations as directed
  • Prepare account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items for various balance sheet accounts
  • Ad hoc accounting research, analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules
  • Special assignments and responsibilities as requested

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 1+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge
  • Solid general accounting, GL reporting control-oriented skills in a multi-entity public company
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proactive mindset
  • Good professional judgement and grounding in GAAP
  • CPA track preferred
  • Familiarity with accounting system, Solomon (MS Dynamics), Netsuite is a plus
  • Financial reporting for multi-location operation
