Sr. Cloud and API Developer

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Developer to join our dynamic team in building scalable, cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS, Python, Java, and RESTful API development, with a proven ability to design and implement secure, high-performance APIs that power enterprise-grade solutions. This role focuses on hands-on development, designing robust solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Python, Java and Spring Boot, ensuring adherence to best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Implement API development best practices, for enterprise-grade applications.
  • Build and optimize cloud-native microservices leveraging AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and Lambda.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration with front-end and third-party systems.
  • Establish and maintain API documentation using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI for clear and consistent developer experience.
  • Implement error handling, logging, and monitoring for APIs to ensure reliability and observability.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks (including API testing), and maintain robust documentation.
  • Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in Python is desired
  • Expertise in API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, HTTPS) and API performance optimization.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., DynamoDB, S3, SQS, Lambda).
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native development.
  • Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (including API test automation).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of API Gateway (AWS API Gateway or similar) and service mesh technologies.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, ELK stack).
  • Familiarity with advanced API patterns.

  • This role is remote but may require occasional on-site attendance for meetings in one of our facilities in Tampa, Hartford or Overland Park, KS. If chosen for a final interview, an on-site interview may be required.
