Job Description

Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, vacancies will arise for two OF4s to serve as SO1 Evaluation Assessment D & E (Logs) at Northwood HQ on ADC/VeRR/VTOD/PTVR Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an earliest proposed start date of 1 May 26, and latest proposed start date of 1 Aug 26. (Start date May be earlier or later depending on candidate status).

Up to 60 RSDs per year are available for the right candidates to conduct each role.

Unit Function:

The role of the Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC) is to optimise and adapt the current integrated force, through concepts and warfare development, to support UK and NATO joint commanders to achieve operational advantage over adversaries, across the continuum of competition.

Position Role:

SO1 Evaluation Assessment D & E will be central to delivering the evaluation of the capability of PJHQ Group's operational HQs, as directed by CJO and defined by the Integrated Task List (ITL). SO1 Evaluation Assessment D & E will attend Integrated and Joint Tier 3 and 4 national and international exercises, working at the heart of military activity within the Integrated Force. Logs SQEP will be a significant advantage in these roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of IWC capability evaluation of Permanent Joint Headquarters Group (PJHQ Gp), including on TRA-endorsed Tier 3-4 exercises.
  • Conduct Staff Assisted Visits to support Joint Commanders' certification decisions.
  • Maintain subordinate orders (CONOPS, SOI, etc) which direct IWC Evaluation activity.
  • Assist PJHQ J7 with maintaining an up-to-date Integrated Task (IT) List and conduct Evaluation of PJHQ Gp's ability to achieve the required ITs.
  • Liaise with exercise designers to ensure Evaluation objectives are incorporated into exercise design.
  • Conduct risk analysis and manage issues associated with PJHQ Gp's Evaluation.
  • Provide SME advice to enable DIWC to assure PJHQ Gp's ability to meet contingent tasks.


Essential Skills

Must be an OF4 of any Service and specialisation.

OF3 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered. PTVR/ADC/VeRR/ARRG/VToD Applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR may be considered, subject to JSP 755 and sS policy.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

ICSC (Land/Maritime) / IOD 4-5 (or Reserve equivalent, as applicable).

NATO TACEVAL Evaluator (can be undertaken on appointment).

Desirable Skills

Experience in logistics at the operational level

Domestic Considerations:

The IWC is a Regular organisation, which routinely works Mon to Fri (0800 to 1700). The incumbent should be able to travel and work at Northwood HQ one day per month and will also be able to work from home or other Defence sites (e.g. IWC has offices in both London and Shrivenham).

Approximately 20-25 RSDs per annum will be expected to be delivered on directed Joint exercises, which will include weekend work and may be overseas.

The exact working days will be planned with the 1RO.

Employer Comments:

Up to 60 RSDs allocated for each of these roles.

T&S: Subject to agreed committed TaCoS.

Accommodation: Subject to; agreed committed TaCoS, availability of transit accommodation and if required to work in different MOD locations / overseas requirements / or exercise.

Employment on Part Time TaCoS (PTVR/ADC/VeRR/ARRG/VToD): The successful applicant will be subject to the TaCoS they will be employed on / authorised.

Transition between TaCoS: Personnel taking this appointment from other TaCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TaCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TaCoS.

Annual Salary and Leave: Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published in JSP 754. Leave entitlement, if applicable, is detailed in .

Army ARRG/VERR/ADC Project tasks are not WF authorised positions. They are a temporary liability created specifically for a task and of a short duration; up to 12 months @ up to 90 RSDs, and therefore boarding and selection for these jobs does not attract substantive promotion or granting of AHR or SUPA. A JPAN can be rank ranged to facilitate selection in a lower rank than advertised. However, the intent is to fill the positions in the advertised rank and in only exceptional circumstances will a lower rank be selected to run to board.
