The Senior Staff Broadcast Engineer builds and maintains cutting-edge platforms for one of the premier national broadcasters. This role is part of our engineering team to ensure our content is readily available to viewers at any time via broadcast channel playout, Video OnDemand (VOD) and other media services.

Engineering & Support
Provides engineering support for all on-air broadcast systems
Follows standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
Builds and maintains FOX’s broadcast infrastructure
Conduct lab, performance and system tests and prototype efforts that can continually evolve FOX’s architecture and infrastructure
Supports evaluation of solutions portfolio against third party offerings
Collaboration & Partnerships
Supports Media Operations team in day-to-day operations and assist users with technical issues or concerns
Partners with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues
Collaborate with engineering teams, operations teams, and third-party vendors to develop long term strategy, product development and implementation road maps

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Level & Role Specific Qualification
12–15+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in broadcast, television, or large-scale media production facilities
Recognized subject matter expert in IP-based broadcast infrastructure, including deep expertise in SMPTE ST 2110 standards and AMWA NMOS specifications
Proven experience architecting and leading large-scale broadcast system deployments (greenfield and brownfield migrations)
Lead the technical design, validation, and long-term evolution of facility-wide broadcast and media systems
Define engineering standards, best practices, and reference architectures across multiple facilities or business units
Serve as the highest escalation point for complex, cross-domain technical issues
Architect and maintain resilient, scalable intercom, routing, monitoring, and media processing systems
Deep understanding of compression and mezzanine formats including MPEG-2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, JPEG XS, and emerging codecs
Provide architectural oversight for vendor ecosystems including routing, storage, asset management, graphics, transcoding, playout, automation, and master control
Lead technical evaluations, RFPs, proof-of-concept testing, and vendor selection initiatives
Develop and enforce infrastructure lifecycle management strategies and technology roadmaps
Mentor and develop engineers across multiple levels; establish technical growth frameworks
Act as engineering liaison to operations, production, product, and executive stakeholders
Ability to work various shifts as part of a 24/7 coverage team
Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace, a minimum of 4 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related Tech field
Research and prototype emerging technologies including 4K/UHD, HDR10+, remote production (REMI), and distributed media workflows
Architect hybrid on-prem and cloud broadcast workflows leveraging AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Media Services)
Lead containerized and orchestrated broadcast environments (Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code)
Expert-level understanding of Precision Time Protocol (PTP – SMPTE ST 2059) architecture and multicast routing design, including IGMP, PIM, QoS, and deterministic traffic engineering for large-scale ST 2110 broadcast environments.
Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems with clear redundancy models and disaster recovery strategies
Familiarity with AI-based system monitoring and diagnostics for improving performance, reliability, and fault detection.
Understanding of AI-driven workflow automation for optimizing media management, content processing, and broadcast operations.

This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
