Job Summary:

As a Senior Manager -Finance Data Science you will be responsible for creating and implementing data science capabilities to improve financial data predictability and delivering deeper data driven insights. You will work with other data scientists, finance leaders, data engineers, Visualization team and technology teams in delivering measurable data science capabilities based on financial and non-financial data

The scope of this role is to lead the innovation in finance data science domain and execution of data science, understanding BD processes and data footprint, scoping and resource planning Analytics projects and owning the delivery of capabilities to Finance and business partners.

This role is accountable for designing and delivering predictive, diagnostic, scenario modelling, commentary generation, Conversation AI, prescriptive analytics and GenAI use cases using large data sets and find opportunities for improvement in business planning process.

This role will involve leading a global team in data mining, data analysis, building and implementing analytical models using open source or self-service data science and Machine Learning platforms and providing meaningful insights to Finance and business partners. This role will be the primary contact for data science activities in BD Finance and will report under Senior Director -Reporting and Analytics. Scope of this role will involve working with wide range of stakeholders in Finance, Business and Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead data science strategy in finance and partner with Finance and Business leaders

  • Responsible for continuous improvement, innovation and research of advanced modeling and insights for decision support

  • Build and scale a global data science team with data scientists, data engineers and analysts that are capable of end-to-end development of data science products, technologies or services.

  • Mentor technical members of the team and bridge team’s gap on finance business acumen to solve various problem statements across various finance domains

  • Provides leadership, strategic direction and takes accountability for requirements, procedures and standards

  • Partner with Data Engineers and Project Managers to deliver end-to-end solutions and works directly with business partners in developing, communicating and executing projects

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and explore opportunities for the application of machine learning and lead proof of concepts to solve a business problem in an agile manner

  • Champions, advocates and facilitates the use of data and data science methods across the finance organization

  • Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers and explain complex models in a simple manner to senior stakeholders

  • Monitor end to end integration of data science model from data gathering, data cleaning, production and integration with user systems and tools

  • Monitor models for performance, develop checks against drifting and continuously improve the existing models

  • Balance long term strategic priorities with short term tactical needs

  • Collaborate with technology, engineering and Finance process teams

  • Keep up-to-date with latest technology trends like Generative AI

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of overall experience and 6-8 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelors/Master’s in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Finance or any quantitative

  • Degree in Finance and/or working experience in Finance

  • Previous experience in Finance Data Science Use cases and deployment.

Skills Required

  • Ability to lead and inspire individuals, foster teamwork and drive for common goals and achievements

  • Must have a strong commercial focus, a solid background in statistics, data science and managerial experience with machine learning

  • Knowledge of big data, data integration, machine learning, intermediate level of software development and automation skills

  • Experience Python, R, SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets

  • Experience in working with data science cloud platforms AWS, Azure etc.

  • Experience in cognitive analytics including NLP/NLG, Recommendation Engine, Digital assistant,GenAI etc.

  • Knowledge of Alteryx/DataIKU, Tableau/ PowerBI etc.

  • Good understanding of ETL tools and data pipelines

  • Experience in handling time series data and univariate and multivariate forecasting techniques

  • Experience with practical applications of machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, neural networks, and/or Bayesian models

  • Experience in advanced statistical techniques and concepts

  • Previous experience in Finance domain

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities & projects

  • Good knowledge around risk management, compliance adherence and commitments

  • Experience working across multiple levels of business stakeholders, creating context around key business drivers and strategic plan
