Senior Manager, Clinical Trial Finance Management

Brief Description:

The Senior Manager, Clinical Trial Finance Management, R&D Finance is responsible for developing, managing and tracking clinical trial budgets and working closely with clinical operations to ensure financial efficiency and accuracy in supporting the organization’s clinical and financial objectives.  This role is also responsible for the line management of the Clinical Trial Finance Managers within the Global Finance Team

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Line management of Clinical Trial Finance Managers

  • Consolidation of Clinical Trial Budgets across whole portfolio

  • Clinical Trial Financial Management Process Owner

  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in processes

  • Serve as SME for Clinical Trial Financial Management Systems, including Oracle

  • Escalation point for review and approval of clinical trial contracts and amendments, ensuring financial terms and conditions align with company policies

  • Prepare financial reports and analyses related to clinical trials, contributing to management decision-making

  • Perform monthly accruals for clinical trial contracts, ensuring alignment with budgets and project timelines.

  • Develop, manage, and track clinical trial budgets, working closely with appropriate R&D Functions to ensure financial efficiency and accuracy.

  • Prepare and post monthly and quarterly journal entries and prepaid journal entries for Clinical Trials

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Finance and R&D teams fostering collaboration and providing financial guidance for trial activities.

  • Ensure proper internal control structure and adherence to internal controls in assigned areas as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in accounting and/or finance related positions.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech is essential.

  • Experience in Clinical Trial Financial Management is essential

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and applicable financial systems and software applications.  Knowledge of Oracle is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reporting.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a results-driven mindset.

 

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
