Senior Carer/Team Leader

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Carer/Team Leader to oversee and support care delivery within our care home.. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a compassionate approach, and extensive knowledge of elderly and specialised care, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care. This role involves supervising care staff, ensuring high standards of care, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The Senior Carer/Team Leader will play a vital role in fostering a positive environment for residents and clients while managing daily operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of carers, ensuring the delivery of compassionate, personalised care to residents or clients.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • Administer medication accurately following prescribed protocols and maintain detailed records.
  • Provide direct care, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, and behaviour management.
  • Monitor residents’ health status and report any changes promptly to relevant healthcare providers.
  • Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s by employing specialised care techniques and behaviour management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, health & safety, and organisational policies.
  • Organise training sessions for staff on topics such as first aid, medical terminology, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with case management duties to coordinate services effectively for residents requiring complex support.
  • Drive organisational initiatives to improve quality of care and resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in nursing home settings or home care environments specialising in senior or dementia care.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent recognised certification.
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and medical terminology.
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team of carers.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage care plans and documentation accurately.
  • Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills tailored to elderly or vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience with Electronic Care Planning software is desirable but training will be given

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £26,000.00-£26,208.00 per year
