SEND Teaching Assistant Contract Full Time NEW

We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work full time in a specialist SEN secondary school based in Brixton, supporting students aged 11–19 years.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND TA who has experience working with autistic students and supporting learners with social and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with Autism and associated social, emotional and communication needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support across the secondary age range
  • Assisting with literacy and phonics interventions
  • Using PECS and Makaton to support communication
  • Implementing strong behaviour management strategies
  • Supporting students with personal care when required
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support individual learning plans

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary SEN setting
  • Experience supporting autistic students with social and communication needs
  • Practical experience using PECS and Makaton
  • Experience delivering literacy and phonics support
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Ability to support personal care needs when necessary
  • Available for a full-time position only

Pay & Working Hours:

  • £92.41 per day PAYE, increasing to £100 per day PAYE after 12 weeks
  • Full time: Monday to Friday
  • School hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm
