Seasonal, Part Time Tour Guide / Guest Associate

Overview:

We are looking for eager and hardworking individuals who enjoy working outdoors and promoting environmental education and conservation! This competitive, SEASONAL position will provide valuable opportunities to gain extensive knowledge of Florida estuary ecosystems, as well as thorough kayak instruction, strong education experience, and the chance to work with a friendly and constructive team.

We anticipate this seasonal position to be from April-September 2026.

Job description:

  • Will lead groups of guests (up to 10 people) on an informative tour through mangroves and estuary system, highlighting information about Weedon Island Preserve, in addition to local flora and fauna
  • Help prepare for rental launches including lifting kayaks, assembling paddles and other supplies, assisting with life jackets, offering dry bags
  • Break down after tours and rentals, including cleaning kayaks and supplies, storing equipment, and filing information with managers
  • Will work 16-24 hours per week with a flexible schedule based on employee preference for part-time employment structure
  • Weekend availability preferred
  • Assist with check-ins, paperwork, and transactions at the launch site as needed
  • Report to daily Manager on Duty
  • $14/hr starting rate plus tips

Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, lift 40+ lbs, and work in uncomfortable outdoor conditions (heat, insects, rain, etc)
  • Basic knowledge of Florida’s ecosystems and wildlife and/or passion to learn
  • Experience kayaking recreationally or professionally
  • Good communication and public speaking skills
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Money handling experience
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Job Type: Seasonal, Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 28 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shifts (occasional 4hr shifts)
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
