About The Role

Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automated production systems to support PerfectGift’s high-speed manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of robotic systems, conveyors, and integrated automation equipment. The Robotics Automation Technician will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and servo-driven system issues, and support the installation and commissioning of new automation systems. In addition to hands-on maintenance, this individual will assist with basic system design and layout, modify robot programs and PLC logic, support product changeovers, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings 3–5+ years of automation and robotics experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and production teams to keep operations running at peak performance.

This is a 5-day onsite role in Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities


  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on robotic systems, conveyors, and automated equipment; diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and servo-driven systems
  • Independently troubleshoot automation issues, identify root causes, and support production during downtime using PLCs, HMIs, robot controllers, and integrated systems
  • Assist in the installation, startup, and commissioning of new automation systems; support integration of robotics, print systems, vision systems, and material handling equipment
  • Modify robot programs and make basic PLC logic changes; adjust system parameters to improve throughput, quality, and reliability; support product changeovers and new job setups
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system changes; identify and implement opportunities to improve system reliability and efficiency; collaborate with engineering and production teams to support upgrades and continuous improvement

  • Support the successful integration of new machinery and robotics/automation systems at the Bayer facility, ensuring a smooth startup and operational handoff
  • Develop a deep technical understanding of current and incoming equipment, robotics, automation processes, product specifications, and industry standards
  • Support facility modifications required to accommodate the new system, including electrical, structural/building, and machine shop work

Qualifications


  • 3–5+ years of experience in automation, robotics, or manufacturing environments; Associate degree in Robotics, Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and industrial automation; experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, or similar), PLCs, and HMIs; working knowledge of pneumatics, servos, and motion control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; hands-on troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment; basic programming experience with robots and PLCs
  • Ability to assist in system layout and basic design decisions; experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) preferred; understanding of how design choices impact maintenance, reliability, and throughput
