Operations Assistant

Responsibilities

The Operations Assistant is a part-time, afterschool/evenings, and Saturday position. This individual will be responsible to successfully carry-out the operations of The Baum School of Art during the afterschool and evening classes and on Saturdays. Duties will include, but are not limited to: customer service at the front desk such as answering telephones and greeting, assisting, and registering students; basic administrative duties including using the computer, a point-of-sale (cash register), photocopier, and other basic office equipment. Provide classroom assistance and faculty support; occasional art supply organization and preparation; and additional duties as assigned.

Required skills

Sills required include, but are not limited to: basic administrative and customer service skills including the use of a multi-line telephone, internet, and cloud-based systems; basic math skills and money handling; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; and basic office equipment skills. Physical requirements include the ability to: sit, talk, and hear; walk/stand for up to 45 minutes; use steps; twist, bend, push, pull; and lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Must be 18 or older.

Ideal qualities in a successful candidate include: reliable, conscientious, thorough, cautious, friendly, honest, self-directed, enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds, has the ability to maintain confidentiality, and has an interest in the arts or art education. This position will report directly to the Director of Operations and Marketing. This is a part-time, in-person position.

Hours

Hours will be approximately 15-20 hours per week within the following schedule and are subject to change as the school’s needs change:

Academic Year (September—June)

Monday–Thursday: 4:00pm–9:15pm

Summer (July—August)

Monday-Thursday 3:00pm—9:15pm

Saturdays: 9:00am–3:30pm

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
