On-Site Machinist

Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced On-Site Machinist to support production and maintenance operations inside a large industrial manufacturing facility in the Peoria area.

This position focuses on precision machining, fixture repair, tooling modification, and restoration of machine components to keep production and test equipment operating at peak performance. This is a hands-on, maintenance-driven role that also supports quoting and planning of additional repair and fabrication work.

Responsibilities

  • Machine and repair fixtures, tooling, and machine components
  • Restore worn or damaged parts to print specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Complete and document assigned work orders
  • Track labor time and repair activities accurately
  • Manage all documentation associated with assigned work
  • Generate and maintain repair and work order records
  • Order materials and shop supplies required to complete work
  • Coordinate material needs with supervision or purchasing
  • Prioritize work based on safety, downtime, and production needs
  • Support continuous operation of manufacturing equipment

Quoting & Additional Work Scope

  • Evaluate damaged components and recommend repair solutions
  • Quote labor hours required for additional machining or fabrication work
  • Identify required materials and special tooling
  • Assist with cost estimates for non-routine repairs or upgrades
  • Submit material/tooling requests for approval prior to procurement
  • Ensure all quoted work references the appropriate work order or equipment asset

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years machinist experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance
  • Proficiency with manual lathes and mills
  • Ability to read blueprints and hold tolerances
  • Experience repairing tooling, fixtures, or machine components
  • Ability to estimate labor and plan machining repairs

Preferred:

  • Journeyman machinist certification
  • Maintenance machining background
  • Welding or light fabrication experience
  • Experience quoting repair or fabrication work

Safety Requirements

  • Follow all plant safety policies
  • Wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, gloves, and face shields as required
  • Maintain clean and organized work area (5S standards)

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • 40 hours per week
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs
