National Residential Underwriting Counsel- REMOTE

Setpoint Consultants is a national staffing agency specializing in the title/escrow and real estate industry. We are seeking an experienced National Residential Title Underwriting Counsel to support residential title operations across multiple jurisdictions. This role provides legal underwriting guidance, risk analysis, and technical support to title agents and internal teams, while ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, state regulations, and company policies. The ideal candidate has deep experience in residential title insurance, strong multi-state underwriting knowledge, and the ability to operate independently in a national, remote environment. Key Responsibilities • Provide underwriting guidance and legal analysis for residential title insurance transactions across multiple states • Review and interpret title commitments, policies, exceptions, endorsements, and clearance issues • Analyze complex title defects, curative issues, and insurability risks • Support agents and internal teams with underwriting approvals, policy interpretations, and risk mitigation strategies • Draft, review, and approve underwriting guidelines, bulletins, and memoranda • Stay current on state-specific laws, regulations, and underwriting requirements affecting residential transactions • Assist with claims prevention and support claims teams as needed • Serve as a subject matter expert for residential underwriting best practices and standards • Collaborate with regional underwriting counsel and operational leadership on national initiatives Qualifications • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school • Active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction • 5+ years of residential title insurance underwriting experience • Demonstrated multi-state or national underwriting experience • Strong understanding of residential real estate transactions, title insurance products, and underwriting risk • Experience working with title agents and underwriting teams in a fast-paced environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently in a remote setting Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience with a national title insurance underwriter • Exposure to underwriting guidelines across multiple jurisdictions • Experience supporting high-volume residential operations Why Join • National scope with meaningful impact on residential underwriting operations • Fully remote opportunity • Collaborative legal and underwriting team environment • Competitive compensation and benefits Apply tot his job
