Heartland Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our specialized Mohs Surgery team in Wichita, KS. With over 40 years of excellence in dermatologic care, we are proud to be one of Kansas’ most trusted skin cancer specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Mohs surgeon during all stages of surgical procedures and reconstructions

Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including education on wound care and surgical outcomes

Prepare surgical rooms and maintain sterile environments

Collect and accurately label specimens for pathology processing

Document procedures and patient encounters promptly and accurately within the electronic health record (EHR) system

Manage surgical inventory, prepare instruments for sterilization, and ensure all supplies are readily available

Coordinate patient flow to optimize efficiency and patient experience during surgery days

Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA standards and protect patient confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant, or current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in Kansas

Strong interest or prior experience in a surgical or dermatologic setting preferred

High attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality care

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-focused environment

Proficiency with (or willingness to learn) electronic health record (EHR) systems

Preferred Experience

Previous experience assisting in Mohs surgery, dermatologic surgery, or outpatient procedural specialties a plus, but not required

Strong communication skills for patient education and teamwork
