Managing Consultant, Private Markets Sustainability & Decarbonization

ERM is seeking a Managing Consultant, Private Markets Sustainability & Decarbonization to join our team. At ERM we are committed to supporting our private markets investor clients as they look to decarbonize their portfolio companies and drive growth via sustainability value creation levers. Our private markets value creation team is currently going through a period of significant growth in the market while also servicing an existing large base private equity and infrastructure investor clients. Consultants in the Private Markets value creation team work on a wide range of interesting strategic and operational projects at portfolio company level for private markets investor clients. This person will partner across ERM’s industry teams and lines of business to develop innovative sustainability & decarbonization solutions that meet the needs of both portfolio companies and General Partner goals, investment outcomes and programs. The incoming consultant will be expected to deliver projects and build relationships with current and new clients in the private market’s investor space. As a consultant, you will manage projects, motivate staff at all levels and contribute to the achievement of ERM’s delivery of sustainability & decarbonization strategy development and implementation projects. As a project manager in your industry, you have developed an in-depth knowledge of private equity and infrastructure investors and portfolio operations teams. You have experience supporting and leading strategic engagements at the C-suite level and partnering, guiding & educating senior management teams on interpreting and creating action plans around the development of strategy development & quantified implementation roadmaps and setting credible financial targets from sustainability & decarbonization projects. You will have a deep understanding of commercial and operational value creation levers, corporate strategy, market sizing, operational efficiency measures, low carbon solutions, solutions, industrial decarbonization, and sustainable value chain initiatives. You have prior experience managing and successfully delivering corporate strategy programs for mid-market companies and understand how those operational projects fit within private equity and infrastructure clients’ sustainability & decarbonization programs, targets, and broader investment processes as well as energy transition & impact fund investor needs. You enjoy building, coaching, and mentoring collaborative teams as part of a large global business. This role will work across ERM and the firm’s sustainability & climate functions which brings together senior consultants and executives across all climate and sustainability disciplines to deliver leading operating capabilities and insights to our clients’ portfolio companies. This individual be a core member within a team of sustainability, investment banking, sustainability-focused go-to-market professionals, energy transition investing, and corporate strategy experts. The ideal candidate will have a track record in private equity value creation program implementation, broader post-investment corporate strategy, market sizing, and pricing engagements for private markets investors and project delivery for private equity and infrastructure investment, and operating teams, and portfolio company management. The successful applicants will be expected to: • Have 4+ years (7 years preferred) of experience working in private markets space either as a consultant or in industry. • Support delivery of our client’s sustainability & decarbonization projects within ERM’s portfolio company portfolio operations services working alongside our clients’ sustainability, commercial, and operating teams, and portfolio company management teams to help them develop sustainability, decarbonization & energy transition fund plans & programs, measure and improve against the full suite of sustainability metrics & targets, and aggregate performance improvements as part of exit preparation. • Work with our clients’ ESG, investment, and operating teams and portfolio company senior management to design and execute post-investment sustainability & decarbonization value creation plans for the hold period for new and existing investments and work with those client teams to ensure completion of objectives laid out in the context of their broader portfolio and firm-level sustainability and energy transition goals and internal sustainability & decarbonization operating capabilities. • Conduct high-quality commercial & operational analysis, supporting clients to collect data, analyze findings, identify solutions, size and quantify value creation initiatives and develop clear and actionable roadmaps. • Provide insights, guidance and support to clients and portfolio company management on how to translate sustainability & decarbonization initiatives and projects into broader business practices and business models to ensure long-term sustainable business value creation. • Support with integrating sustainability & decarbonization measures into broader value creation planning. • Serve as a leader and mentor to more junior consultants. Support with proposal development to win new business opportunities that results in significant revenue growth with arenaflex clients. • Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential; ensure rising stars are nurtured, developed and given new areas of responsibility. • Support ERM projects that develop repeatable processes, frameworks, toolkits, assessment scorecards and other materials for our clients and support their deployment and operationalization across portfolio companies based upon company maturity and decarbonization potential. • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. For the Managing Consultant, Private Markets Sustainability & Decarbonization position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $95,564 – $110,000 (USD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
