Logistics Specialist

Allyn International is currently looking for a full-time Logistics Specialist in Owego, NY* to join our organization! The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The Logistics Specialist shall manage outbound domestic and international logistics for client. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, and obtaining best possible transportation rates.

Position Details:
Location: Owego, NY (100% on-site)
Work Schedule: 40 hours, Monday-Friday
Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Position/Classification: Full-Time; Salaried Exempt
Compensation: $55,000-$65,000 Annually
Physical Demands: Sitting, typing, and walking around a large warehouse

Required Experience and Education:

  • Warehouse or shipping experience required
  • TMS Experience preferred
Ideal candidates will be able to:
  • Resolve client and carrier issues with ease
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have high proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Analyze data to improve processes within the warehouse
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction.
  • Actively look for and capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible · Research and offer optimal transportation modes, routings, equipment, and frequency.
  • Complete all compliance documentation maintaining 100% compliance with all product export processes and domestic shipment(s) for regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Domestic and international small parcel execution on a as needed basis, including capability to respond to expedited orders.
  • Verify all picks have correct ship to, serial numbers (if needed), and shipment method; print packing slips as needed.
  • Verify that all shipments scheduled for pickup have left the facility, report discrepancies.
  • Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and other transport regulations compliance management, including permitting, over dimensional, and Hazmat.
  • Create and review hazmat and dangerous goods documentation to ensure that packaging, labeling, placards, transport mode and all other pertinent info is in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide Dangerous Goods classification and advise Allyn and client personnel of the restrictions/regulations for specific items.
  • Compliance management for International Air Transportation Association (IATA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and any other transport regulations including in other global regions.
  • Maintain online tracking and metrics tools ·
  • Eliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customers ·
  • File and follow through on all freight claims.
  • Training of new employees and clients, if needed.
  • Participation in client offered training in support of each functional competency ·
  • Provide excellent customer service to Allyn customers
