About the Role We are seeking an experienced Legal and Compliance Officer to join our company on a fixed-term contract. This role plays a critical role in supporting all business operations across North America, including but not limited to financial services and payments, e-commerce operations, and broader corporate compliance, such as employment-related and entity-level compliance. The position is responsible for leading compliance risk assessments, supporting regulatory and legal engagements, and ensuring the legal and regulatory sustainability of the company’s products, business activities, and operational practices in the North American region. This includes strengthening compliance frameworks, overseeing corporate and employment compliance, and advising on legal risks across multiple business functions. Working closely with cross-functional teams including business, product, operations, HR, and senior management, the successful candidate will help embed effective compliance controls, support business growth, and ensure the company operates in line with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on compliance and legal professional with experience in fintech, payments, e-commerce, or regulated industries to make a meaningful impact within a fast-growing, global technology organization. Key Responsibilities Compliance • Keep up to date with, and understand relevant laws and regulation, to ensure that all products (business activities) are conducted in conformity with current laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures. • Continual Compliance risk assessment of company practices together with the development of internal policies and procedures, compliance training and protocols. • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, providing required filings and reports, and maintaining relationships with relevant legal and industry associations. • Lead key projects and initiatives related to increasing efficiencies and reducing operational risks in support of the firm's KYC & CDD program. • Develop and implement compliance best practice including but not limited to checklists, manual and training material. • Identify, investigate, conduct impact assessment and provide corresponding solutions for non-compliance. • Participate in Business Development Process and engage with business functions to ensure a robust and effective compliance controls within the company. • Any other duties as required by the company business needs. Legal • Ensure all types of products (business activities) are legally sustainable in the applicable markets, including but not limited to entity requirement, business license, data & privacy and related regulatory requirements. • Managing (draft, negotiate and implement) the terms of conditions of all products/business engagements. • Ensure all business contracts are reviewed appropriately that optimizes the interests and legal compliance of the company. • Ensure all office locations are employment compliant. • Managing general administrative duties (such as entity setup & renewal, business license application & renewal, relevant certificates renewal and compliance, trade mark management etc.) • Develop and implement a legal knowhow sharing culture both within the team and within the company. • Any other duties as required by the company business needs. Qualifications • Bachelor degree holder in Law, Finance, Business or related discipline; • Practical experience in the financial services / digital assets industry will be a plus; • Familiar with the MSB rules and regulations and industry practices; • Sound judgment in identifying risks in order to proactively escalate to relevant senior managers; • Attentive to details, compliance and control oriented, diligent and proactive; • Self-motivated, strong problem solving abilities; Apply tot his job Apply tot his job
