THE OPPORTUNITY The Interior Designer I is an essential support role within the Design Services division, focused on assisting with the day-to-day execution of renovation projects and process optimization initiatives. This position provides hands-on support in design selection, documentation, research, and coordination for renovation work, including pool renovations, leasing offices, clubrooms, common areas, and amenity spaces. The role contributes to delivering high-quality, on-brand designs that enhance resident experience, support leasing efforts, and improve operational efficiency. In this position there is 20% travel, including overnight* KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Renovation Design Support Assist in the design selection process by researching, sourcing, and compiling options for finishes, fixtures, furnishings, materials, and color palettes. Ensure all selections align with brand standards, budgets, and project goals. Prepare digital mood boards, material sample boards, and preliminary design presentations for review by the Interior Designer and/or Director of Design. Support the development and updating of design standards, packages, and specifications for renovation projects (e.g., value-add unit upgrades, amenity refreshes). Project Documentation & Coordination Create and maintain detailed design drawings, schedules, and specifications using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp). Assist in coordinating with internal stakeholders (Asset Management, Operations, Construction/GCS) and external vendors to gather requirements and ensure accurate design implementation. Track project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for leasing/clubroom renovations and pool furnishing projects, escalating issues or risks to the supervising Interior Designer. Process Optimization Assistance Contribute to process improvement efforts by organizing data, updating templates, tools, and workflows for renovation design processes. Help document best practices, standardize scopes, and support initiatives to streamline procurement, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination. Participate in testing and implementing new tools or procedures under the direction of the Interior Designer Research & Trend Analysis Conduct market research on design trends, sustainable materials, cost-effective alternatives, and multifamily resident preferences to inform renovation decisions. Maintain libraries of vendor catalogs, samples, and resources for quick reference. Administrative & Team Support Manage administrative tasks such as organizing project files, scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and tracking KPIs related to renovation projects. Provide general support to the Senior Designers and Director of Design as needed, including preparation of presentations and updates for senior leadership. CANDIDATE PROFILE Please provide your student or professional portfolio with your application Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent experience. 0-3 years of experience in multifamily or commercial interior design, with exposure to renovations preferred. Experience with AutoCAD and SketchUP is required for this role; experience with Revit would be an asset. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills along with teamwork abilities being proactive and eager-to-learn mindset. Knowledge of design trends, materials, sustainability practices, and basic project management principles.
