The successful candidate will exercise independent judgment, oversee technical and administrative staff, and play a key role in planning, designing, and delivering critical infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Alcoa, TN. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with city departments, external stakeholders, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery and adherence to city standards.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Duties</strong></p><p>Duties include but are not limited to the following:</p><ul><li>Manages construction projects associated with water and wastewater improvements, and other assigned public works projects</li><li>Prepares design plans, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates for public works projects</li><li>Supervises work of subordinate technical and administrative team members</li><li>Reviews and responds to citizen inquiries and complaints related to engineering projects and operations</li><li>Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and standards</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Proficiency in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, with experience guiding diverse teams.</li><li>Strong skills in Project Management, including planning, organizing, and delivering projects on time and within budget.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering</li><li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) license issued by the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners, or licensure in a state with reciprocity (Tennessee licensure required within one year of hire)</li><li>Significant management experience in civil or municipal public works engineering</li><li>Appropriate state or professional certifications related to the engineer’s field of specialization (or ability to obtain within twelve months), such as: Grade II Water Distribution System Operator, Grade II Wastewater Collection System Operator, Level II Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) certification (or ability to obtain within twelve months)</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>How to Apply</strong></p><p>Interested applicants must submit an online application, along with resume and salary requirements through the City’s website – www.cityofalcoa-tn.gov. This position will remain open until it is filled. </p><p><br></p>
